HobNob Wines not Just for Hobnobbers

Devon Reid, Contributor

Every few years there comes a breakthrough wine that captures the imagination of wine enthusiasts.

Enter HobNob the extravagantly full bodied wine that elevates the very concept of Hobnobbing, that ingenious way of linking with your social network. This is not a wine that takes itself too seriously. It is incredibly smooth and goes down (almost too) easily.

A Hot 100 wine brand award winner, HobNob is a wine straight from the wine hub of France. It was founded in 2007 and is one of the fastest growing and highest ranked brands (by volume) in its category. Available in Jamaica in four popular varieties which include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot and Shiraz HobNob wines are approachable, inspirational, contemporary, sophisticated yet casual, fun and clever. And just in case you were wondering, HobNob origins as a word come from the 18th century and are defined as two people or more drinking to each other - through the clicking of glasses and the rubbing of elbows - in toast and celebration.

Produced in a new world winemaking style, HobNob is approachable, contemporary and fun - and both appealing and relevant to a broad target audience. Boasting a cool clean graphics, vibrant packaging and memorably irreverent, nontraditional name HobNob generates strong brand identity on the shelf and leave the consumer with a strong impression.

This easy-to-pronounce, easy-to-remember wine label has been created to reflect the dominant message - coming together, socializing and even the clinking of glasses and drinking together.

HobNob, whose mantra is 'at the center of it all,' is also becoming the wine of choice for US celebrities.

The brand is also making a tradition of sponsoring social events in the US and Europe for causes such as cancer research. Here at home HobNob was the featured wine at the elegant Pineapple Ball held at Ritz Carlton Rose Hall last October. The annual event is organized by The Jamaica Committee and is aimed at assisting educational programs and charities on island. The Committee also recognizes excellence in selected fields by presenting The Jamaica Committee Award of Excellence at each Pineapple Ball.

HobNob is CPJ’s fastest growing mid range wine brand with the strongest growth among locals.
