Martini & Rossi

Category:

Martini & Rossi Asti is a fruity sparkling wine made from the finest 'Moscato Bianco' grapes grown in the heart of the prestigious Italian D.O.C.G. area. Top quality ripe grapes from a single variety are fermented once only. The fermentation is stopped at two thirds of its natural sugar potential which gives it a lovely fruity flavour and low alcohol content. It is also low in acidity and highly aromatic. Asti is a great partner to fruity desserts, pastry and ice cream. Best when served fairly cold.

The best sort of glass to use to enjoy this sparkling wine is a tall flute or tulip glass as tall slender glasses allow the tiny bubbles to rise in a continuous steam.

Martini and Rossi who produce around 21 million bottles annually of sparkling wine and are also is the world’s leading producer of vermouth. Asti is the name of the town and the region south of Turin in Italy that supplies Muscat Canelli grapes for the wine. “Spuma” means “foam” in Italian. The Muscat Canelli grape has been near Turin for many years and its oldest known variety in Piedmont it was mentioned there as early as 1203 A.D.
